Absolutely loved this hotel. Exactly what I needed. Small but comfortable. Hot shower comfortable bed. So near everything. Do your research before you travel, I didn't realise how close it was to MBS. Several Metros within 5 minute walk. Plenty of bars and restaurants near the river. Staff were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend

Nightmare Stay!

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and can unequivocally say that Champion Hotel City is by far the worst. I arrived around midnight and check in took a strangely long time with the front desk clerk appearing to just blankly stare at the computer screen like he was expecting it to read his mind. During this bizarre experience, I asked for recommendations for a good breakfast restaurant and tour. The answers were “Singapore has a lot of restaurants” and “I don’t know.” This turned out to be the pinnacle of customer service that I received at this hotel. When I finally got to my room, the smell could most generously be described as “moderate body odor.” It made prison cells at Alcatraz look downright spacious, had hair all over the place, and plastic debris was on the bathroom floor. Worst of all, there was a particularly acute incident of domestic violence next door. Every word and other terrifying sounds could be heard through the paper-thin walls. I waited at the front desk for about 15 minutes to report it, but no one was there. I returned to my room and called the police since the arguing and sounds viciously escalated. The clerk finally returned to his desk and reacted with a nonchalant head bobble and shoulder shrug when I told him one of his guests was in mortal danger. He did not have discretion to change rooms -- and seemed very annoyed at me -- but he finally called a manager. That manager busily shuffled papers for five minutes and did not acknowledge me once, let alone apologize. When I finally asked if my room was ready, he said “yes” and handed me the key. The second room was plain filthy. At this point in the dead of the night, I would have settled for a moderate body odor stench, but instead I quickly became acquainted with what Singapore sewers smell like. The mirror was stained ... at waist level. Mold was on the bathroom floor. The sink looked like it was last cleaned when Singapore was a British possession. Beyond exhausted, I was willing to overlook everything if I could just charge my phone and go to sleep. I called the front desk to ask for a power adapter and was curtly told “you cannot instruct me what to do; that's not a service we provide.” I am still trying to figure out what services they provide. Anyway, the worst was yet to come. I lifted the toilet seat, and it was coated in human waste. Mortified at what I saw and likely touched, I frantically washed my hands, smothered my hands in sanitizer, and went downstairs. The front desk clerk would not change my room, get the manager, or pay for alternative accommodations. After pleading my case, he kept belligerently and incessantly repeating the same mantra: “call the police.” To make a long story somewhat shorter, Singapore has elaborate laws about chewing gum but no laws about hotel rooms unfit for human habitation. I was left to find a hotel after 2AM in a country that I’ve been in for under three hours. The clerk finally relented and said he would issue a refund, but he lied and that refund is still being disputed two weeks later. Choose any other hotel; you can’t do worse than the worst.

The Indian manager was not friendly & not willing to help the customer . Did not feel warm staying there . Asked for more info & was not willing. Wanted to extend a little longer but changed mind. As the attitude was hostile & unwelcoming. Do not deserve a star

Great first nights in Singapore

I stayed at this lovely hotel for my first 2 nights in Singapore. The location is perfect in the city centre. The check in was simple and fast for a vtl person like me. I ordered some food and the receptionist dropped it at my room while I was isolating. The Belcony is nice to chill on. Rooms very clean but small but enough space. Bathrooms are nice too. A good hotel!

RUDE customer service

Horrific attitude from Champion Hotel City's service staff. Ruined our trip before it even started. Just today, the Singapore Tourism Board put out an advisory saying (STB) that staycations will be allowed, but hotels must apply for permission to STB/MTI (government agencies) as well as let them know about their safe management measures for guests. I asked the hotel if they will be applying for this permission, but I received a reply asking for my "marriage certification to substantiate the reason for honeymoon". NOWHERE did the Government request for guests to furnish such personal particulars. When I sent the hotel links to the STB advisory and other related news coverage to clarify the situation, I was greeted this most unfriendly message: I did not say it’s approved, i just said it’s ON till further notice!!!!! You have also replied to us at 6.14pm on 28th June that you understood the situation! Like I have said, the booking is On for now, please do not spam our reservation email anymore, During these uncertain times, hotel staff should expect queries from guests, especially those who have made the effort to put down bookings and arranged for leaves. When guests who have done their due diligence send over helpful information which they've spent time finding, be appreciative - or at least, don't be rude. I don't think that is asking for much. Horrible experience. Nothing is worth being subjected to such hostile attitudes. It would do Champion Hotel City some good to teach your staff some basic customer service and PR.
